(More customer reviews)This is a good WiFi antenna. I'm using mine on a remote WiFi repeater that needs to maintain a solid link to its infrastructure and service roaming clients in several different directions. A high-gain omnidirectional antenna like this usually costs about twice as much, so I was a little skeptical at first about this one. After doing some testing on it and comparing it to several other antennas that I have been using for many years, I feel pretty confident in recommending it.
This antenna has a coaxial connection that is exposed to the weather, which means that the coaxial cable must be run on the outside of your support mast, so be sure to use the weather-proof tape (provided) to complete your installation. Personally I prefer a design that allows the feed-line to be protected from the weather and run inside the mast, hence my 4 star rating.
Here are some general tips on getting the most out of an omnidirectional antenna like this:
1) Mount it in the clear and at the very top of a mast. Keep it at least a few feet away from near-by objects that could detune it or change its intended radiation pattern.
2) Use as short a coaxial feed-line as possible. Calculate the feed-line loss at 2.4 GHz and get the best coaxial cable you can afford for your installation. I personally use LMR-400 for runs of 15 ft. or more for WiFi.
3) If you're looking at this antenna to increase an access point's coverage range, make sure that your current range is not being limited by interference from other 2.4 GHz "noise" sources. If this is the case, your transmit range may increase, but your two-way communication range may not change much since all signals being received (the ones you want and the ones you don't) will all be stronger. You'll want to get a directional antenna for this situation.
4) If you're mounting an omnidirectional antenna really high, consider getting one with a "down-tilt" pattern. I could not find a radiation pattern graph for this antenna anywhere on the web, but I'm assuming that it's fairly symmetrical and not a down-tilt pattern. This would mean that its gain would drop off significantly at an angle more than about 10 degrees below the antenna.
If you're looking for an outdoor omnidirectional WiFi antenna with a rugged design that's not too expensive, this one is a good choice.

(More customer reviews)Antenna eventually worked well but only after returning the antenna and all other recommended buffalo components (at Buffalo's request) since didn't know source of problem. 2nd antenna eventually worked but only after MANY MANY hours both attempting to contact technical support and talking to someone who sometimes was familiar with this product. Found it to be very sensitive directionally at relatively short ranges (ie. 100 yards) so used a laser leveller to point the antenna. Found also that the buffalo router which was connected to this antenna lost significant omnidirectional signal strength and we had to acquire another router/access point to recover wireless strength around the original router. I'll give this product a rating of "3" ONLY because it eventually worked and because I did not find any other integrated systems from the other household/small business router makers whch include such a high powered antenna in their product portfolio. Had we not used 100% buffalo components though I'm not sure we would have gotten the support or had the leverage needed to resolve the problems.

I placed my order on Amazon at 3:00p and it was shipped by 5:00 the same day! I ordered the next day shipping because I wanted it in a hurry and received it at 10:00a the next day. Very impressed with the turnaround and ease of doing business.
When I received the Flow, I opened it up and was surprised at how simple it was. There were only 3 pieces, ready to plug and play. Set up was a breeze and I plugged in my DVD player and media player into the labeled ports. I then plugged in the receiver into my TV across my house and within 1 minute I was streaming HD! I used HDMI on the transmitter and Component in the other room because my other TV lacks HDMI. I tested it with HDMI on my other TV and it worked just as well. I was pleasantly surprised to find there is no noticeable delay or loss in image or sound quality whatsoever.
It transmits my remote control signal from the receiver back to the transmitter seamlessly. Overall, a great experience and I highly recommend for anyone wishing to stream HD video and audio across a house or other location. The most impressive feature I found with this product was that the wireless HD signal would send and receive the signal through walls just the same as it would in line of site. I read other reviews on similar products around the same price that required line of site and was happy to find the HD Flow does not require line of site. It would work the same with a wall and closed door separating the transmitter and receiver. This would be great in a bar or restaurant where you have multiple inputs and do not want to run cables across the room. It would even do a great job if you put all your IR components in a closet where you can hide them and have only one input into your flat screen. Recommend!

Unfortunately I should have picked a more robust modem as this one is not working properly. My first modem would need to be restarted every 3h so I ask for a new one. the new one also needs to be restarted 2-3 times a day. The modem is burning hot which could be the reason of the problems but as it is, people should not buy this product.
I give 2 stars because it could be potentially a nice modem once Trendnet fixes it.

Insignia NS-WBRDVD, Connected Blu-Ray Player, 1080p Review

(More customer reviews)This product is made by BestBuy (Insignia is BestBuy's house brand - kind of like generic products from the grocery store). What BestBuy saves by not putting a fancy Sony or Samsung label on the product gets passed on to you. Still, the player is made well and performs exceptionally for this price.
Now, understand that there are players that do more stuff, maybe have cooler menus and might have better picture/sound. That said, your average Joe ain't never gonna notice any of that stuff. Only videophiles are even going to hint at the picture quality on this player being less than optimal. The fact is that Blu Ray looks darn good on every player that you can buy today, and on screens smaller than, say, 100" the picture is perfect.
This player lacks internal decoders for DTS-MA and DolbyHD (it can pass these to your receiver to decode, though). Cha-ching = savings for you.
Streaming NetFlix is pretty awesome. Make sure that your wireless router is set up as a WPA (not WEP) encrypted router. Set up couldn't be easier. Picture quality is outstanding. Some movies (like Muppets in Space) look just as good as DVD. TV shows (like Dora the Explorer) fare a little worse (VCR quality). But other shows, like Heroes, look high def. Newer movies look comparable to DVD when streamed as well.
This is a very cool product and functions just as promised. Definitely a good quality product. Even more so, given its price.
